Imac Refurb - Fantastic!!!

Hi All,

I am now typing this on my refurb imac 20" 2.4 ghz and I must say that I have just turned it on, sorted the internet settings out and I am online in 5 mins.

These refurbs on the Apple UK website seems great, this one does not have the standard 1GB ram and 320GB HDD but has 2GB ram and a 500GB HDD.

I have no dead pixels and no marks on the whole thing!!

All I can say is if you are able to get hold of one and not bothered about the new update (whenever it comes!!:confused:) get one of these!!:D

I must be the ONLY person that buys refurbs that come as advertised. I always see people say their refurbs come with more ram or bigger hdd than its suppose to :(

But I agree, Apples refurbs as basically like new. I dont think Id ever buy a new Mac when I can save a cpl hundred bucks on a slightly older refurb.

20in iMacs. No 24in. As it has been for the past fortnight. Please something soon. If nothing by mid-April, then it's June... with delivery July?

Should be June, as if the is a f- update, it's being manufctured now. If not, why?

Apologies for an UKism. Its a quote from the BBC sitcom The Royle Family. The father of the family usually ends any reply to a comment he disagrees with with 'My Arse' ie that's what's he rates it.

I hope its been on BBCAmerica (its a few years old now), but I'm sure YouTube has some of its genius episodes.

Oops, didn't spot the 20/24 reference. Apologies.

We're still waiting for the update though, sigh.
 
My 20'in imac also comes with the advertised config.....

that's okay.....I just got 1TB My book ...and my rams are on their way...

You are not alone! I just received my 24" refurb and the hard drive is actually listed as 298 GB instead of 320. I assume that's because of the operating system? :confused:

The OS does take up some space, but the vagarities of the way the capacity is measured and the file system sets it up. A Mac Mini with an "80 gb" disk has a capacity of 74.4 gb. It is an issue with all kinds of disk drives and involves how the file system works, how much space is wasted by 'reserved' tracks, etc.

theres absolutly no wasted space by 'reserved' tracks or anything. its how hard drives are advertised versus how computers read space.

80GB hard drive = 74.4Gb. A GB is different from a Gb.

A GB is 1024Mb
A Gb is 1000Mb

Not quite :p.

GB refers to gigabytes (1000 megabytes/1000 MB), while Gb refers to gigabits (significantly smaller I'm sure you'll find).

One gibibyte-GiB (2^30 bytes) is 1024 mebibytes (MiB).
 
Oh and I've had 20" refurb for a week or so already. It seemed just like a new product to me and I like.
