time machine icon gone

A curiosity; the desktop icon for the firewire disc I use as my Time Machine backup has recently reverted to the standard external firewire disk icon. Time Machine itself works as normal. Anyone have an idea why this might happen?
 
I checked, it was on. While in there I hit "change disk" and reselected the same disk, the icon turned back to the familiar Time Machine Disk icon. Now I can sleep at night :)
