I don't know about others, I just found out that iStat Pro shows the battery life of my slim BT keyboard, I suppose the same as for the mouse, so if you have a BT device, and don't have iStat Pro, I recommend it!

yeah I noticed the same thing. However my mouse was only showing as 'unknown' but maybe it's model dependent.
