First off I searched as much as possible and tried many different options without result.
I am running a PowerMac Dual 2.5 PPC with two vid cards (one AGP and one PCI) and eSATA card.
Just swapped out hard drives and did a clean install of Leopard. Everything was running fine for a month or so until last week. I restarted the system after an install and nothing would boot.
After my clean install I started reinstalling all 80+ apps without problem. I realized I never installed the ATI graphics card control items for use in sys preferences. After that install, everything went haywire! I dont know if that directly relates to the issue but thought I would throw it in there. After about ten reboots, I got back into Leopard and removed the ATI files from APPS folder. Then, I used techtoolpro and ran the entire system through the Advanced tests and everything passed.
I replaced the Lithium battery on the Logic Board and even went so far to take an old drive with Tiger installed and tried that with no luck. I try to reset PRAM and all the other resets as in the guides above with no luck. The odd thing is in between trying all this, the system would reboot one out of a hundred times. I am wondering if I just have a bad or faulty logic board (this is a 2004 PM so could it be going bad after 4 years?) or if something I installed off the ATI utility disc goofed up my video startups!
Any hints in what steps to go through with next before taking my system to Genius Bar? I know it is out of warranty but wanted to try everything possible. Oh, and when the system does boot up correctly, it runs like a champ. Im wondering also if I might have an app conflicting with leopard. I do have USB Overdrive running but nothing else seems to be non compatible with leopard!
Ok, I think that is every bit of info I can provide. Like I said, I did my best searching for an answer and cant find anything.
One final food for thought, I had a nVidia 6800 DDL video card take a dump about 8 months ago (right before my applecare went out) and I called but since it was an aftermarket purchased card (yet another long story) they could not help but would note it in their "file" in case it was a faulty/bad logic board.
If someone has any thoughts or opinions I would love to hear them and if you made it this far, THANKS IN ADVANCE!
