Is it possible to do this? I know the Macbook has a digital output, but the Macrumors guide for setting it up is ridiculously outdated. Does anyone have experience setting it up, preferably someone running a mid-2007 Macbook?

1. pick up a mini toslink to toslink optical cable, like this one
2. use the mini end in your standard 1/8" output jack, and the toslink end in your digital reciever
3. switch the audio output settings to digital

:)

Is it easy to switch the audio output settings to digital, or do I have to do something like bring up the Terminal and do a bunch of commands?
