Bought MBP mainly for video editing right now. But household has many PCs. I bought a firewire 800 capable 2 TB drive for editing the HD video. It is formatted NTFS right now and I could get that Paragon util to let OSX read and write NTFS. Or i could format it Mac native and that could I guess have a performance gain? Any thoughts? The downside of going Mac native is any PCs will need to have software to let them mount it.

It is always best to use the native file format rather than going through Paragon or MacFuse (freeware), especially when doing video editing.
Either way you will have to install some software to get them both to recognise the drive.

OK instead of making the new Mac in the house for video editing read/write NTFS, I will plan to change the PCs in the house to read the Mac format (HFS+ or whatever it is called).
