I have a couple of login pages where I probably clicked on "Never for this site" when Safari asked me to store the username and password, and now I want it to store it for these sites, so where does Safari store the settings for which pages to never save username and password for?

Safari preferences -> Autofill -> User names and passwords -> Edit

^ How does that help me? That only shows the sites where it has stored a username and password, not sites where I've decided not to store that info.

Ah, sorry about that, I thought it also marked the ones you'd declined to "save" (like Firefox and Camino does - or rather did before I changed to 1password).

Edit: And it seems I was right:

Perhaps it is not there in older versions of Safari but

What version of Safari are you using?

Yeah, that was my first guess as well, but it doesn't look like that's how they do it.

That's weird. I'm on 3.1 (5525.13).

Perhaps it's something with the sites themselves?

Can you guys go to http://fronter.com/hials and enter a bogus username and password and see if it allows you to save?

It doesn't allow me to save in Safari and gives a browser warning

Your Web browser " SAFARI 525 for Mac" is supported by Fronter, but some functionality will not work properly due to lack of technology support in the browser. This is typically accured when using the editor.

Tried it out in FF 3B4 and it didn't give me the save option either.

There are website that tell browsers not to save passwords and usernames.

Only browser that will ignore this and let user save UN/PSW is opera.

If you use firefox, add this to your bookmark

next time, after you fill in your username/password, before you click to submit, click this bookmark. Firefox will then remember username/psw.
Code:
javascript:(function(){var%20ca,cea,cs,df,dfe,i,j,x,y;function%20n(i,what){return%20i+"%20"+what+((i==1)?"":"s")}ca=cea=cs=0;df=document.forms;for(i=0;i<df.length;++i){x=df[i];dfe=x.elements;if(x.onsubmit){x.onsubmit="";++cs;}if(x.attributes["autocomplete"]){x.attributes["autocomplete"].value="on";++ca;}for(j=0;j<dfe.length;++j){y=dfe[j];if(y.attributes["autocomplete"]){y.attributes["autocomplete"].value="on";++cea;}}}alert("Removed%20autocomplete=off%20from%20"+n(ca,"form")+"%20and%20from%20"+n(cea,"form%20element")+",%20and%20removed%20onsubmit%20from%20"+n(cs,"form")+".%20After%20you%20type%20your%20password%20and%20submit%20the%20form,%20the%20browser%20will%20offer%20to%20remember%20your%20password.")})();

Yeah, I love 1Password, but it requires me to right-click, select Restore from Form and then enter my 1Password bookmark. I would love to just be able to click the login button like all other sites.

Doesn't the cmd-@ shortcut work???

It should work in Safari, Shiira and Camino...

Cmd-@ shortcut? Never heard of that before. I tried on the page, both with the focus on the page, and with focus on the username field, but it doesn't do anything.

In 1password, see the keyboard shortcut under Prefs -> Browsers

1password is great, highly recommended

OT: Of those who use 1Password, how do you like it?
I'm totally addicted... along with LaunchBar (which I recently replaced Quicksilver with after discovering how to run LB without the dock icon) the only MH II apps I use on a daily basis.

Excellent for cross browser support...and I've exported the passwords to my secondary work machine, too...

I'm a bit sceptical about the new "save online" feature, there's just something about trusting a "public" site with all my password that quite frankly scares the s...pooh out of me...

I checked 1Password, and it lists Cmd-@ as the shortcut, but it doesn't work here. I even clicked Install again for the browsers.

Try changing it, that seems like a bad shortcut anyway. I thought the default was cmd-\

Did you also click the short cut field and (re) sat it to cmd-@ (or whatever else you want it to be)?

Yeah. It works on every other page though, but not the one I linked to in my OP.

Right-clicking works though. Isn't that weird?
