My [Mid 2007] MacBook is cracking from the back hinge. I already went to the Apple Store and they said that it wasn't covered because it was a cosmetic crack. I don't really know what is cosmetic about it. But oh well, I bought AppleCare and it's now registered and I checked for service options and they say that I have to go to the Apple Store. Can I just call up AppleCare and talk to them about the problem and they will send me a box. I already disputed with my local Best Buy, from which I bought the product from, and they were just really mean and screamed at me and I made the decision to NEVER buy anything from there.

Because of the cracks, my MacBook keeps freezing constantly, Airport drops all the time, and it gets extremely hot! I don't know why they call them laptops if they aren't well on your lap. But do I have any other options or should I try the Apple Store again?

A crack is one thing, but if you are having problems with software or hardware then Apple should address those issues. So I'd say bring your laptop back in and show them what issues you are experiencing. Then when all is said and done you can mention "one more thing" my hinge looks like it's cracking. I believe it is a known issues with some macbooks.

Thats interesting.

First off Best Buy sucks.
Second. I would do what ^FOX^ says. They should address you airport and your staling issues and while they are doing that they may have to fix the cracks. I know that the MacBooks are made with a "Sub Par" material and they often crack where the Magnetic laches are. that happened to me and they fixed it for free. Keep us posted

Is there a way to do this by the phone with AppleCare? There is no Apple Store close to here where I live(one is under construction)

Thanks for your help everyone! I actually just got off the phone with AppleCare and they are sending a box to my house and they are going to fix my MacBook! I'm excited but I'm not gonna have my MacBook for 2 weeks :(

Sorry for my lateness...

just make sure you addressed "all" of those issues, 'cause they should take care of all of them in one trip. Congrats on getting the "cosmetic" issues addressed. Basically, cosmetic issues don't actually have anything to do with the MB's ability to actually function as a computer. I look at "cosmetic" issues as "RECALL ITEMS" that Apple feels it's "normal wear and tear," when in fact they take away from the resale value by the exact amount of $$$$ that it takes to repair "cosmetic" blemishes! Good Going! :p
