Well, I know there some threads about it, but right now I own a 17" hp laptop, and its heavy and i hate it, I dont take to the university most of the time cuz.. its heavy and stuff, but I love the big screen. Anyways, right now I planned to buy the 15" but since the 17"is also lightier thant my current laptop... Does any one here have a 17" and move it around a lot?, is it annoying, opinions plz

P.D. Sorry for the English, not my main language.

The 17" won't be any less bulky than your current HP; a 17" laptop is big, no matter who makes it. If you need portability, get the 15".

You can always connect you 15" to a bigger monitor or big screen TV, so if you want a big screen you don't really need to carry it with you.

Yes I carry my 17" to all my classes. I barely notice the weight. Though I have so say it's a bit inconvenient when I sit crosslegged and use my computer on my lap.

I would suggest going to an apple store and feel one yourself but personally I love the 15".

I'd agree with this. Sometimes I get ticked carrying my 15" around, but that might be just me. Go try it out for yourself before you buy.

Yes I think I will, because its not the size that bothers me, its the weight.. yeah, i can get a screen and i use when I'm at home, but i wont be carryng a screen around XD, so, I'll go check them out. Thank you all, but if someone have more opinions regarding the carrying of a 17" mbpro I'll be glad to hear them.

I bring my 17" Macbook Pro (6.8 lbs) to work every day and the weight does not really bother me. I was formerly using a Macbook (5.0 lbs). The only time the weight increase is noticeable to me is while carrying the 17" one-handed while the screen is in the open position but even then it is really not that bad.

While shopping for the MBP, I could not make up my mind for a long time on whether to get the 15" or the 17". The reason why I ultimately ended up going for the 17" is it is just about the same weight or a little bit lighter than my friends' 15" Dell laptops (Inspiron 6000 and Inspiron 1520) and 15" Sony Vaio. For similar dimensions and weight of other 15" laptops, my 17" MBP opens up with a GLORIOUS high-resolution LED screen. I agree with most other 17" owners and state that the high-res screen and extra real estate more than make up for the 1.4 lbs weight difference between the MBP 15" and 17". :D

I've had many 15" and 17" models. In addition to weight you also need to consider where you want to use it. If you use it on a desk primarily the 17" is pretty good. If you want to use it on your laptop, then the 17" is much more cumbersome than the 15". The new 17" high-res LED backlight screen is gorgeous but the size is still not nearly as usable as the 15".
