I have a new MBP, and want to set it up so that i just have to plug in one cable (not including power) when i bring it to my desk. I have a usb hub that works great for everything except for my WD passport drive (that is powered through USB). Does anyone have any suggestions for a USB hub that has 6 or so ports and an external power supply?

ALSO... I would like to use the apple ethernet usb adapter so that i can include the internet cable in the hub. Has anyone tried the adapter with the MBP (does it work with computers that are not MacBook Airs), and is there a disadvantage in using it vs. plugging ethernet into the Mac directly (in terms of speed)?

Ethernet to USB on a hub

I'm in the same boat as you.

I have heard cases on the Apple Store website where people got the USB Ethernet adaptor to work with 10.5.2 on their Macbooks, MBPs and Mac Pros.

I would like to connect my iPhone, Mouse dongle and an Apple USB to Ethernet adaptor to a USB hub, but don't know whether the ethernet adaptor would work on the USB hub.

Anyone with these adaptors willing to test it out for us?

I've seen one case on the forums with a MBA, just not with a MBP.
