Too Late to Buy AppleCare?

They can fudge the date somewhat. I purchased AppleCare for my MacBook three days after it expired. I told them that I didn't think "in transit" days should be counted against the warranty since I purchased directly from the Apple Store and it took five or six days to get to me.
