SCEE releases PSN Store redesign, to launch mid-April

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has unveiled the PSN Store redesign for Spring. Previously scheduled store updates will be halted for two weeks until the refresh goes live.

As expected redesign is similar to SingStar PS3's SingStore interface. If this works like the SingStore, the new PSN Store will be a stand-alone application and will use the PS3's browser to initiate downloads only.

Some additional information:

• New PSN Store is confirmed as a stand-alone application that will cache images for better performance just like SingStore

• Store layout was created based on customer feedback

• Will require firmware 2.30, unknown what other features will be included
 
I was bout to cry "OLD!!!!one1!" but then I saw the new pics :D


Looks much nicer, I hope they make it easier to get to things and to find things. The slowness of the browser isn't what bugs me, its trying to find something that is old.
 
Very very needed indeed.... Hopefully download speeds will increase for demos too. Some seem to take forever to download.

Yeah. I just assumed it would be animated like SingStar's SingStore. However, now that you mentioned it —*it's static in all the promotional shots.

Not a deal killer either way, just think it would add to the cool factor.
 
Tonights the big firmware update guys....new PS store(software based)...GT5P, warhawk: broken mirror(might), LAIR control/new dragons patch(might)...some blu-ray audio functions, hoping for some demos.

The biggest news.....MGO beta has started inducting and gaming starts April 27th(I think) I got my code so I'm ready to go.

Even bigger news –*European PSN Store will have an open (no codes needed!) MGO Online Beta to download from April 17, and gaming starts on April 21... and I think thats for all regions.

Am very much looking forward to getting my hands on this :)

I got a Japanese code, is there any problem using it?

The new store looks pretty sweet. I installed it this morning, it makes me want to buy something (lol). I'll be getting the Warhawk map on Thursday!
 
VERY VERY SLOW!


But it does look nice, just it really is pathetically slow at the moment, to the point of it being unusable just right now.

Hopefully they iron that out in the next 48 hours.
 
The new store is really nice, although some images take a while to load. I'm guessing since it's new Sony is still ironing out all the servers.

I also got a code for the MGO online beta. What I HATE about it though is that you will need to register with Konami with two (yes TWO) screen names to get in. One for registering online with them, and another for the actual screen name that appears online when you play. And I thought wii-codes were ridiculous!!

I recommend doing this now so you get the screen name you want. I'm "pine-tree" if anyone wants to add me when the beta starts.

Well, can't download the beta until the 17th, and it doesn't start until the 24th, so have to wait and see.
 
I guess as I've heard the Japanese codes are useless in US. Today I got a "Your account has been deleted" email from Konami.
 
Well, here in Greece it's been released and it's awsome. Nice redesign. Simple, fast and clean.
