I am Canadian and I live in Windsor, Ontario right at the border of Detroit. I have been tempted for months now to go over and buy an iPhone and I just had some questions for anybody knowledgeable on Roger's situation.

I know that there will be a 3G iPhone most likely in June, or at least it seems that way and I was planning on getting a simple my5 voice plan for the iphone since our data rates are rediculous here. So should I even bother waiting for the 3G phone since Canada seems like it will never have cheap data rates? I can't really afford over $60 a month so is there really a point? I can't say I really need my e-mail or weather 24/7 and I am in areas with wi-fi most of my life. I am just trying to justify my purchase, haha.

Oh, I was also wondering if the iPhone has a "Home Only" mode so that I won't hit the US towers?

Why not wait anyway? If the 3G one comes out, the EDGE version will no doubt drop in price, and if the 3G version offers something the EDGE one doesn't then it will help determine if it's worth it. Also, then you'll have a better idea of data rates, and whether the Canadian carriers will offer less pricey unlimited data...

it just tough to wait when you have the money saved up at hand...

don;t you think they will completely discontinue the EDGE version once the 3G version does though. Apple always does that.
