When you got your Mac, then used it for a while, then went back to PC at work or school, did any of your Mac habits stick? Whenever I use my mom's PC, I always find myself squeezing the mouse for Expose, and I'll squeeze it a couple of times and wonder "What is WRONG with this thing?", then remember "Oh yeah..." :D :D

What about you?

I always find myself hitting the alt key expecting it to act like the apple key for the shortcut to quit an application. Another is more specific to IE, but it kinda irks me that it won't automatically append ".com" in the url bar, so I often just get a web page that tells me it can't find the site.

I use the short cut <apple><shift><e> to send email in FirstClass on my Mac. Whenever possible, I try to keep my hands on the keyboard. At work, I don't know a lot of the deeper PC shortcuts, so I am constantly reaching for the mouse to select the option from the menu or icon.

I have Quicksilver set to come up when I press the :apple: key twice, so if I'm on any other computer besides my Mac, I try to bring up Quicksilver and end up being stunned that it's not there.

I've switched for a little less than a month now, and I still do the opposite :p

I'm stuck trying PC shortcuts on my Mac.

Can't get over the fact that F5/F6 won't refresh/take me to the URL bar in Safari, among other things. And this darn Caps Lock "feature" on the keyboard is driving me NUTS.

Whenever I am on a PC I find myself hitting command+Q to quit an application. Sux, that it doesn't work on a PC. I also find myself tempted to drag a file to the Recycle Bin rather than uninstall it like we drag and drop files to the Trash on a Mac but this feature will jack up files in the Registry. I guess this is why my sig reads as it does.:D

i always try and use the two finger scroll on my friends laptop but when it doesn't work i remember

i must admit i dont use my apps full screen anymore as Mac OS X taught me the proper way of allocating space to apps and ive got an HD display. so now i dont use my apps full screen anymore on PCs except for Excel and MATLAB.

i also click the the scroller expecting Exposé all the time as i have the scroll ball button set for Exposé on my Mighty Mouse, ctrl-left or right for Spaces, command (i.e. winkey) W or Q. has anyone said the the alt-F4 and ctrl-Q keyboard shortcuts in Windows suck! why alt then ctrl! haha the Mac way is sooo much better.

I keep on pressing control + click thinking that there would be extra options until I realize that this is a mac and not a pc.

when I have to use a PC at school I want to rip my hair out

I realize exactly why I use a mac, because i hate the PC, but

I can barely operate my trackpad first thing in the morning. Glad I don't use the keyboard pointer. I'd be totally lost.

sounds like you need safari for windows!

I always try to control-click and use mac shortcuts on my mom's laptop. And like everyone else I get pissed when it doesn't work.

I have a job that involves using a PC, and find myself constantly trying to use apple-c and apple-v, to no prevail. I also occasionally use the backspace key as a delete key, yet again very annoying!

EDIT: And I try to use two-finger scroll all the time, forgetting it is a special feature of my Macbook!

Another vote for ctrl+click, command+Q (I catch myself before actually trying this on a PC) and (of all these this is the function that I find the most useful) two finger scroll.

Things I find myself trying to do on a PC:
  • hot corners for activating Exposé & Spaces
  • two finger scrolling and tapping
  • end up using the PC keyboard's ALT key as the Command key
  • inserting accented characters using the windows key
None of them will work! :p

I find myself trying to use expose, and the command functions but most of all i find myself trying to use the fkeys to change sreen brightness, and volume.
