System Preferences Automatically Changes My Desktop Background

I have a folder that I use for Desktop Photos where the pictures are set to automatically switch every hour. My issue happens every time I go to System Preferences --> Desktop. The choice for Desktop Background automatically changes back to the default Apple Images folder and I have to select my Pictures folder again.

I currently have the newest version of the MacBook Pro running 10.5.2. This only happens on my laptop. I had a MacBook that did the same thing. I have two iMacs that do NOT do this. I can't imagine it being just a laptop thing, so what could this be??

Any thoughts appreciated...
