I've already searched over the forums and Google many times resulting in "Reset the SMC" which I have done many times. It resolves the problem for about a week and then BAM, the laptop shuts down while it's on battery and has about 2-3 hours of life left. This is my mothers macbook and we have taken it to the Genius bar when it first started happening and that's how I found out about the SMC reset.
My question here is, do you guys think it's actually a battery problem or the logic board itself? We're setting up another appointment for the Genius Bar this weekend and letting them know that it's a re-occurring problem. She didn't buy applecare but the laptop is only 3 months old and should still be covered. How is apple with replacing batteries? And if it comes down to it, would they replace the machine itself?
Just looking for people with past experience. Thanks.
