I received my new Macbook today, which is making me and its sibling (my iMac) very happy. I noticed that the manual, such as it is, doesn't say anything about calibrating the battery before I use the laptop. Should I do that, and if so could you point me to the instructions? Thanks!

when you first turn it on plug it in or if you havent already do it now. let it charge on full for a couple of hours then use it until the power drains and then sleeps. leave it for a couple of hours and then charge to full again. this is a battery calibration. Apple explains it here.

you can leave it plugged it on full charge for an extended period of time if you want it doesnt hurt the battery or just use it while mobile all the time. but just make sure you calibrate the battery at least every month.

EDIT: me slow! oh well i wrote more! :p

Thanks.

I was wondering -- What is a typical charge? If I use the adaptor most of the time, I assume I leave the battery in the laptop?

Thanks.

yep. if you leave it in it wont hurt the battery and one knock of the magsafe wont power off the MacBook if you leave the battery in.
