Constant blowing sound on my 2.4 GHz MacBook

When i first got my MacBook a little over a month ago i remember it being pretty quiet but in the past week i noticed a constant blowing sound coming from it. It's really annoying specially when i want to work in silence, sometimes i have to turn on iTunes to block out the noise with music. I'm pretty sure it's the fan, but why would the fan be making such noise when it's running at a normal 1800 rpm and the CPU is around 45 degrees. Sometimes it seems to get louder too, and the fan is still at a normal rpm. Should i be worried? Should i take it in to the Apple store? :confused:
 
I have the same thing on my macbook, but after I installed SMC fan control and another program for fan control, then delete both of them, my fans now spin only at 1200rpm, eliminating the blowing noise. it only goes back on if it returns to 1800rpm. i wouldnt worry to much about it, you still have a great computer after all, and all computers emit blowing sounds, there is a fan in there afterall :cool:
 
What is this "SMC fan control" you speak of? Is it easy to use? I know computer make noise, my old PC that i replaced with this new MacBook sounded like a freaking old pick up truck lol. The only thing that had me worried was that it didn't use to make it before.
 
smc fan control speeds up the fans so that it can cool down the computer better, which was a good application for the older macs since they were proned to overheating. i just installed it wondering if I can lower the rpm with it, even though it said minimum speed is 1800, it still lowered after I deleted the program. dont know how, but it worked, so im happy :p
 
The 1800 is the minimum for a reason. It's the lowest recommended fan speed for guaranteed safe operation. What are your temps at normally? How about under load?
 
The temps range from 45 up to 65 degrees, depending on time of usage. What is under load? I'm pretty new at this MacBook stuff. :confused:

So which program are you using now to measure fan rpm speed?

Those temps are fine. Under load means that the CPU cores are seeing heavy usage. To monitor this, you can get the dashboard application iStatNano.

I was actually asking this to the guy who managed to get his fan down to 1200 rpms. According to Apple standards, that is dangerous.
 
Oh alright. Well i guess i'll just get used to the blowing noise. If it gets louder i will just take it to the apple store. Thanks though. ;)
