Here's the scenerio... i'm in class with this girl. She's hot. She is a mac fan like myself.. she has an iphone and a macbook. One day I had on an apple shirt (cuz im a loser) and she stopped and said something about it and we talked about mac stuff like 2 losers and it was awesome.

THe problem is the class is huge (250 people) and she sits in the front and I sit in the back... Now, I know I could go and try to interface with her like normal people but I would rather chat with her during class since we are both just surfing the internet. But she doesn't have 'Bonjour' running so I was wondering if there was a way for me to message her or do something to her computer to get her attention. Access her music or something. This is very stalkerish I know.

She's one of the people on my shared computer list. Can I contact her any other way?

Yours truly,

Pathetic Mac Stalker.

Hey, if you're in the same class and you know her name, hit up Facebook for her AIM. Also known as Stalkbook. It's perfect for situations like this.

Just avoid saying things like "GUESS WHO >:O" ;)

Or, before class starts, talk to her for a minute, say hello or whatnot, and then say "Hey, class is so boring, you mind if I drop you a line on AIM?" She might even say "Why not just sit here?" You never know.

I already ruled that out in my first post. But thanks for not reading. Besides we both like surfing the net during class in between furiously taking notes in TextEdit.

Killmoms, props for the input. Now you're thinking like a stalker!

"Ruled it out?" Uhhh...okay....

I'm sure, with your social skills, she'll be all over you in no time flat. You're a cool one, I can tell.

Thanks again.

Seriously though, stalking aside... I have often wondered if there was a way to communicate with shared computers on a network without using BonJour since not everybody is even aware what BonJour is and they don't always have it enabled.

I would think that there is not a way.

Given that most of us would not want someone to have the ability to send us messages, this is probably a good thing.

I know on Windoze there is a way using a thing called Net Send, but I've looked and a similar thing doesn't seem to exist for the Mac.

There is a way using the NETBIOS name of the other computer, but when I tried it on Leopard, it didn't work, again this is probably a good thing.

Rather than stalk her via Facebook, or sit next to her, wouldn't it be better just to ask her for her IM account? That way you're not being creepy, you'd be being honest with her and if she gave it to you, you'd know she was interested in you too. Just my two cents.

Cheers.

Do it the old fashioned way (close your laptop and sit down next to her.)

Roger that.

You know, when lots of people start giving you the same advice, it might be a good idea to consider it instead of thinking everyone's wrong but you.
Put me down as one more person suggesting saying "hi" to her instead of trying to reach her through her computer.

Just like when everybody told me to buy stock in Enron?

it mite take her a while to find it but drop her a text edit file in to her public folder if u no wich computer is hers. jus tellin her where it came frm so she can drop u 1 bk if she wants 2. or desktop if it isnt password protected an den u get ages to write it perfectly.

Enrons stock crashes 7 years ago. So if your in college or high school, you were like 13 or something.

Anyway, as long as there's not assigned seats that your teacher checks, sit next to her.

If your too afraid, get her screen name.

LOL. Pwned.

Dude, have it your way. You seem to be the only one who can figure out why a girl would consider a relationship with a guy who couldn't muster up the confidence to speak to her in person.

The enron thin was a joke... calm down guys. I know I'm spineless... no need to reinforce it. I'm sure some of you guys have been nervous about approaching a girl.

Oh, I forgot.... we're all Don Juan over the internet lol. Thanks for your input though.. especially those who addressed my technical query.

Self Confidence telegraphs courage.

Men and Women are attracted to people of courage.

She will unconsciously and maybe consciously recognize you as a man of courage when you sit next to her in a friendly assertive non-threatening manner.

Vary where you sit and she will be looking for you if it's in the stars.

If not, you will be remembered as having self confidence.

Good luck

Chicks dig creepy. :p
But really, why netstalk someone you can just talk to in person?

Hey man, no way to get more confident or better at it if you never try. Just saying. :)

i would suggest chatting to her and then asking to sit next to her or chatting on AIM.

but if you really want to go try it do this. open iChat and click the iChat->Accounts menu and choose bonjour. this will show everyone that has iChat open on the local network. bonjour is hard to disable look here i wouldnt think she would have it disabled unless shes done whats in the article. the only problem with this is she has to have iChat open. why not ask her for her AIM address and tell her to use ichat because its better?
