I would like to go for a clean install of leopard but have a couple concerns.....

1. i would copy my photos folder to my external drive, then copy back after installing leopard & ilife. What happens to the keyword data?

2. How do I handle my itunes purchases? Can i just copy them to the external and back again after installing? Do i need to authorise the mac again?

I will probably think of more, anything i need to remember?

Thanks

If you are using iPhoto to manage your photos then just copy the file called "iPhoto Library" to an external drive. Then copy that back on the new install. Just delete the new "iPhoto Library" and replace it with yours. As long as you copy the whole "iPhoto Library" the keyword data should still be there.

As for the purchases, just copy them to an external drive and after the install just copy them back to the directory. I'm not sure if you need to authorize them again but that shouldn't be a problem.

Fans work harder on leopard....

Ok - so chickened out of clean install - too many things to make sure I backed up!

Maybe its to be expected, but i notice the fans working somewhat harder now leopard is running.... (this is after spotlight has finished indexing)

Any tips on what I can do to reduce the pressure on the CPU? Can i turn some of the 'niceities' off?

Just for info, i generally have itunes/mail/office/dashboard/ichat and probably worst of all eyetv running all the time....
