a simulacrum
listen to me Apple Inc, i have a great idea! :)

i was in bed last night thinking, wouldn't it be great if i could have the mouse next to me in bed to be able to do something i might remember without getting out of bed?
wouldn't it also be great if that mouse could play music too?
introducing the iMouse:
a bluetooth wireless mouse that has a rechargeable battery that you can charge by plugging it into a usb jack much like your ipod, at which time it would still work as a corded mouse.
and why not have a switch at the back to flip into ipod mode?
flip the switch and you can have a small ipod (1gb of music is more than enough to put you to sleep) with a small built in speaker or two and a monitor like the one on that Nike watch appearing out of nowhere on the side of your iMouse!
no more waking up having crushed your ipod or having the earphones stuck in odd places or poking you in the back!
one device to do the job!
think of it as a cool mouse and an in-house ipod at the same time!
wouldn't that be just awesome?
what do you think?

You would have to be pretty damn fat to crush an iPod by rolling over it in bed...

To tell you the truth though, why not just use your iPhone with VNsea to control your computer remotely like a mouse? Or pester someone to make a Bluetooth/WiFi iPhone trackpad program?

using your iphone adds complexity, we know apple products for their simplicity and cool design! imagine a mouse with an invisible monitor on the side and you'll get my point! ;)
i for one wood not like to roll over my iphone at night or elbow it or something (and i'm not fat) :)
pillow speakers i imagine would not be that comfortable ;)
