So i see it all the time in Apple stores where people buy the phone in bulk (5 at a time) and mass amount of people do it. Then I hear people are selling them...my question is how and where?

I checked on eBay and they got for like $450? woopdy? $50. Where and how are these supposed "you can make $500 or each phone" type stuff going down? Loads of BS? Or people are selling somewhere else on ebay or others sites? Real curious on this cause ive turned up nothing in my own research.

In Mexico they sell around $580 USD

Well I've seen them on Ebay around that price ($450), but I can tell you that in Mexican Ebay (MercadoLibre) a lot of people sell them there, they bring them from the US or ask somebody to buy them for them and they don't pay any taxes to bring them into Mexico (illegal), so easily they can make $150+ profits. Also I think $50 plus profits is not that bad either for some people if they sell bulk, maybe selling one is no huge difference, but if you sell 10 is a nice enough profit without so much hassle. Anyway just my 2 cents. I think it depends on what people need.

I think there's a big market overseas in areas where the iPhone is unavailable to purchase. If you unlock a phone and sell it, you can make a good profit.

Agreed....
iPhone is not sold where I come from (Singapore). Black market unlocked iPhone goes for as much as S$1000 (USD720)!!!
Sizable profit.... very sweet deal indeed...

Don't forget Canada, eh!:D

I think I remember seeing them for sale in Toronto for $600-800.

My friends dad owns some cell phone stores and he and his sons buy as many iphones as they could from every store that sells them in NY 5 at a time with different credit cards. The reason is because he unlocks them for T-mobile and sells them for a bit more but the real money is in the contract.

Theres a lot of money.. infact its a good part time job for students to do.... buy iPhone, unlock and then sell it..not that difficult. and even if you sell them for £300 unlocked and they are actually £270 you are getting a good deal.

Hey Im in Montreal. Over here we can sell them for a solid 120$+ profit.
If anybody from NY or somewhere close to Montreal would want to cooperate and ship me iPhones and I sell them PM me! We would obviously split the profit and deal through paypal. I'm not even joking!

hmmm ... $50 X 7 per week = $350/week. $350 X 4 =~ $1400/month. $50 X 365 days = $18250/year. Sounds like great money for some lazy bugger who can't get a real job. :D

It's funny because the calculation is wrong but the final answer is actually the right one. Probly a typo.

He incorrectly stated that he was multiplying the monthly earnings rate ($1400...$350x4) by 52 (weeks in a year), but instead correctly multiplied the weekly rate ($350) by 52, and so ended up with the correct answer.

I was buying, unlocking, reselling iPhones for a while. Really not worth it unless you can sell in large quantity. Paypal & ebay fees ate up most of my profit and it was too much trouble dealing with scammers, nigerians, etc.

When the iPhone first came out, there was a store in Akihabara that had iPhones for sale at 168,000 yen or about $1,650 depending on the yen rate.

Even now, the last time I visited the store, they were 138,000 yen.

...and I was tempted to purchase one.

make a small little stall on oxford street like the guys who sell phone fascias and covers, cases, unlocking and sell them there.. they will sell like hot cake.. sell them live one-to-one.... if you sell 10 a day and gain £30 profit per one thats £300 profit per day...

yeah it used to be a pretty good deal doing it up here in Canada, now too many ppl do it and the "blackiphone"market is gone down big time...

I found with items of high value and I consider any thing over $300-400 that is to require payment is US postal money orders. One they have to physically have the cash. Two you get your money and three any fraud and the USPS inspectors and FBI become instantly involved.

Or its Paypal/escrow and waiting for the funds to clear before any items get shipped. I got burned trying to buy a Treo.
Its a hassle and can be slow but hay a guy has to do what a guy has to do.
