Help finding "new mac setup" post?

Hello all...I switched to a MacBook back in October '07 and am still trying to become familiar with my new machine. There are so many things this MacBook can do that I don't even understand or know about to take advantage of. I seem to remember reading several posts before I got my MacBook where people detailed what they did to setup a new machine. For example, what widgets or software are people enjoying, what settings make the mac easier to use, etc, etc. I cannot find these posts and I'm going cross-eyed from searching. Can someone point me in the right direction? Or, if it's easier, feel free to share here what you would do as a mac newbie.
