for **** sake, this upgrade to leopard has just become more hassle than its worth

one of the main reasons i upgraded to leopard.... bootcamp, has just failed part way through partitioning my drive. i was forced to hard restart part way through and now i have 32GB of space that is just lost to no mans land.

it doesnt show up when trying to install windows yet bootcamp reckons that its all done because it only offers me to partition more space from the 50gb i now have left.

what the hell am i gonna do? what are my options?

will time machine be able to rescue me? i doubt it

will i have to do a full back up, then a format and reinstall of leopard then migrate all my stuff over? ****ing carry on i tell you.

try booting into Leopard and erasing the Boot Camp partition to MS-DOS (FAT) using Disk Utility. then boot into the Windows installer format the Boot Camp partition (C:/) to NTFS and then reinstalling Windows again.

no go i dont think

i got the disk utility up and went to partition

all i can see is that the utility thinks the drive is just around 150gb, which is correct considering its a 160gb drive

but it tells me that there is only ONE partition with 50gb free space. all i can do is make that partition smaller. there is no boot camp partition to look at.

This happened to me. Just pop your leopard DVD and in the installer, go to disk utilities and repair the drive. It'll fix it straight up.

Also, make sure you have a time machine backup, and you can muck around to your hearts content.

P.S. it worked the 2nd time around for me.

ill see if it works

i may just do an erase and installl though, i tried to boot camp with my old tiger install and bootcamp wouldnt do it because i'd previously used bootcamp many months before (then ditched it) and because the disk was pretty fragmented (my guess) it then suggested to format and install.

it didnt work

i just did a final back up and then formatted the partition back to full size and did a clean install of leopard

migrated all my stuff over from the time machine (which OS X helpfully asked me about before i even got to the log in screen) that took a while and now im back up n running like nothing ever happened which is kinda weird lol!

just downloading the updates and then i really will be back to where i was this morning.

with a properly clean install and formatted drive, the partitioning for BC should go a lot smoother now.
