Connect a fw 400 hard drive to another via fw 800

Hi i am looking at purchasing 2 lacie d2 500gb drives. i have an original macbook pro with only one firewire 400 input. I want to use the drives in raid 1 so need to connect the drives at the same time, i was wondering if it was possible to connect the drives together via the fw800 cable and then connect one of the drives to macbook pro via fw400.

I'd have though so. My Lacie has two FW800 but only one FW400 port, so if I had two I'd link them up with FW800 cables. Whereas my MyBook has two FW400 ports.

awesome, cheers guys.
its been quickly spurred on by the fact i killed my lacie 500gb d2 last night i think by not having enough air flow around it, so my fault. thinking if i get 2 at least everything will be backed up.
