hi there,

i went ahead and installed a pioneer DVK-215DBK sata superdrive in the second bay of my mac pro. the install went smoothly and everything seemed to be ok, however i'm having a slight issue with it which is really annoying.

if i've just finished ripping a dvd with handbrake i can eject the disc and put a new one in. however the new disc doesn't mount. when i try to eject the drive it doesn't and i get the option box which normally comes up when i insert a blank dvd i.e " you inserted a blank dvd. choose an action ....."

if i then click on eject in that window nothing happens except the window comes back. if i click on OK i get the following error:

"The disc could not be used because the disc drive is not supported. (error code 0x80020025)".

any ideas on whats wrong. many thanks

just a quick update, i repaired permissions and reset the pram and this seems to have sorted the issue. guess i should've done that straight away but hey you live and learn

I'm having the same issue with a Pioneer 212 SATA drive

I don't think fixing permissions will do it, I think that you restarting fixed the problem temporarily, and I think it'll come back later.

Nonetheless, I fixed mine and am hoping it'll be okay :)

post back if the problem returns.

didn't work for me, it just did it again

Oddly enough, it never did that when I had a hard drive hooked up to it.

Check the cables on the drives to make sure that one didn't come loose. I've ha d an issue similar to this before and I just wiggled the cables and all was well after that.

tried it with 2 different cables on both internal ports. same results. weirdness.
