I just got my macbook pro...my first mac ever...

AND I LOVE IT! I was all scared after reading all these horror stories on the boards but I love this thing! It looks flawless, its very fast, the screen is better then any windows machine screen ive used, everything is just perfect about it!

I got the 2.5Ghz , 4gb ram, 200gb 7200RPM harddrive model. Its fantastic!
 
I too was a little anxious when I was opening mine... thinking:

"aaaah, what if its a buggered model and I'm going to have to wait another 3 weeks for them to build me one that works!?"

but is it for lack of a better word, perfect! Of course it wont fly or make me cups of tea or coffee, but for a computer, its perfect!
 
Welcome :) A lot of people who post on forum sites have problems, which gives the appearance that a problem is much more widespread than it might well be in reality.

Yeah, I had a ton of problems when they first released the Santa Rosa MBPs less than a year ago. I bitched and bitchd and finally got a 2.5 Penryn and I couldnt ask for a better computer. Well I could, but I dont know any compter on the market the gets 5 hours of battery life, has a beautifull and bright screen and is fast as hell.
 
welcome to the world of the mac.....i was thinking of upgrading my mbp to the new penryn version but might wait till june when the rumoured even faster versions are coming out...
 
Congratulations! I am a recent switcher too. I didn't think that I would make much use of this multi-touch thing, but now it is frustrating to use another laptop without it. :)
 
Congrats on your purchase! I personally have a BTO top spec MBP 15", and I love it. I've always gone for the smaller powerhouse. Serves me well, as it's only a complement to my iMac, but... congrats!!!
 
Yeah, I often only register on a forum when I have a problem. I am only a frequent user on 2 forums...

Congrats! I just bought the 2 macs in my signature since last August, and I love them. I hope to never go back to Windows.

Congratulations on getting your first Mac! I hope you and our new notebook will have loads of fun exploring Mac OSX.

Please remember the wise majority of users with minor problems don't post on those forums, instead they choose to take the useless telephone support direct from AppleSupport or seek a so-called Genus. However there are a small minority who do post and they complain and rants about the tiniest thing but it's nice hearing from them...
 
Yeah Ive recently switched to Mac as well, OSX is just amazing after windows, couldnt be happier, even despite the 3rd replacement Im waiting for, it still beats using windows, I cant even look at anything else now, its just amazing :D

I just got my new one a couple of days ago and love it.

I haven't seen it fly yet but I am sure that it makes me coffee every morning.

I just purchase a 15" matte and it is so much better than the blackbook I did have!

I just got my first MBP on friday and I've been loving my purchase all weekend long!!! The only thing I hate is going to work monday knowing I gotta use a PC!!! LOL

I did the exact same thing. I had the blackbook for 2 days and just couldn't put up with the screen quality. I took it in and replaced it for a 2.4 mbp matte screen. Couldn't be happier.

I've got a question about the ram, does this come with 1x2gb or 2x1gb?

2 strips of 1gb samsung ram
Mine at least, maybe your ram isnt from the same manufacturer but itll be 2 strips of 1 in any case
 
Yup. I got my 2.5GHz 7200rpm HDD around March 9th and I could not be happier!

I'm not sure how soon it'll be before I can afford a new one, considering I'm about to have to buy my fiancée a Macbook, as her current laptop is on the fringe of death and just seems to be waiting to explode on the couch.

However, I'm really liking the idea of Nehalem architecture. Guess we'll see where the bank account rests when the time comes. I'm sure that by then, my battery will be getting low. But then the wife will just say to buy a new battery. Dern.
