Just two days after the last Mac OS X 10.5.3 Seed, Apple has again seeded a new build revision for Mac OS X 10.5.3 (9D12) to developers. 17 more fixes and only 1 known issue remains.

Typically, Apple has waited several builds before re-seeding new versions to developers. In the past, rapid-fire seeding has meant that they were prepping for the final release. It's unclear if Apple has simply changed its policy and seeding more frequently. If Apple continues on this aggressive seeding, we will report future builds on Page 2 unless there are substantial changes.

Wow, Apple's being more aggressive than usual with Mac OS X seeds. Are they almost ready to release 10.5.3? Only time will tell, I suppose.

That said, I'm not having any serious issues with 10.5.2 at the moment, so I'm very curious about what, if any, improvements 10.5.3 brings.
 
Will they fix the permissions repair issue?...it's the one of the things preventing me from going Leopard on my iMac

Which one? There were several things users noted when they repaired permissions after 10.5.1 was released. None of these are serious - they're only diagnostic messages, and can be safely ignored. Would you like Apple to hide them, like they did when a certain 10.4.x release exhibited a similar issue? I can't recall which one it was.

You should just get Leopard and be done with it. Permissions run here, BUT, it just takes a lot longer than before. But it works for me. Tiger spoiled me with only a 2 to 3 minute run time. It now takes me about 15-20 min. I have submitted a bug report to Apple. But Im glad to be using Leopard. I love time machine! Go for it. At least that's my humble opinion--)) ;)
 
I feel a release coming soon. Maybe they are going to release 10.5.3 because of a security fix so thats why its coming out quickly?
 
I hope they fix the Finder so that windows remember the view setting. i like to have some windows in list view and some in column view. 10.5-10.5.2 are broken.

This issue has plagued Leopard, I hate having to readjust my cover flow settings each and every time.
 
ActiveSync Support

I hope that they build in MS ActiveSync support into mail, calendar, and contacts. I would be at peace with the world then.
 
Let's hope that this one remaining issue in 5.3 is in no way related to the Airport. Get rid of this one bug, and it's all roses and fluffy clouds for this hombre. Things like the funky Permissions Repair option is rather annoying, but this is a secondary concern for me.

If they ever do I certainly hope it's better than MS's implementation of it. Lots of PDA users have labeled it "Active Stink" for many reasons! :eek:
 
As long as the new build is better in any small way, I'm more then happy to give it a go.

Its the fact that it takes a lot longer and it causes my MacBook to stress and as a result fans launch at full blast and even then there's no guarantee of a fix

This is also one of my pet peeves
 
I have noticed my macbook pro freezes A LOT forcing me to do a hard shutdown and then reboot. At least twice a night - I am guessing it has to do with time capsule/time machine. It is the only new component to my system.

Hope they fix that!
 
Huge Issue

I have been having this issue sine 10.5.1 where the machine will no go the sleep so the battery drains. Then if it does go into sleep mode, it will not come out of it. I have to the hold the power button to turn it off. It also freezes like crazy...I have repaired permissions, archive and installed the OS and a clean install. Same issues...

Refusing to upgrade because the permissions repair takes longer than before is completely ridiculous.

It's a repair routine, people. You don't need to be doing it every day, or even every month. You only need to do it when you have errors occurring that could conceivably be related to wrongly set permissions. Doing it for any other reason is voodoo.

All it does is compare the permissions of Installer-installed files with what the receipts database says they should be, and fix any that are different.

Leopard does permissions differently than its predecessors. For example, each account used to be in a group by the same name, but in Leopard, all user accounts are in the staff group. After a simple update, the files had a group ID that did not correspond to a name, and if you tried to correct it, Get Info crashed. There were also problems with extended attributes, so you could load a file into a word processor, edit it, and then not be able to save it. I figured out a series of about six UNIX commands that straightened it out. (I created a new account, examined how the permissions were set, then replicated that in the existing user account.) A correspondent of mine in another country ran into the same problem and fixed it using my technique.

There is a utility on the disk that is supposed to repair permissions in a user's home folder, but it doesn't appear to work right.

It would be very nice if 10.5.3 ran a UNIX script to check permissions and set them correctly.
 
~ "Back to My Mac" is still broken and nothing more than a joke.
~ Finder remembering view settings is also broken. This is something that worked great back in the OS 9 days.

These are the two issues that .3 needs to fix.
