Hi Mitthrawnuruodo,

Thanks for the reply.

Situation = don't have a serial no., I'm looking into buying a PB - not willing to pay a daft price + it will be used for light duties for a couple of years - currently use a Bondi iMac! Knowing I can free exchange an eligible unit covers me if I can't get the relevant battery details from the seller in time. No free exchange -> possibly need to buy a new battery asap.

Cheers,
OW

Well, you could call the phone number from the FAQs at either of the above linked page and ask. I don't see any cut-off dates but vaguely remember reading something in the fine print somewhere when I returned my iBook battery, but I'm afraid that part of my brain has since gone dormant...or quite possibly died completely... ;)

One thing, though, if the recall is still valid: If you find a used PowerBook, get the serial number on both machine and battery and run them through the checker on the support pages to see if it's already been used before making the final transaction.

Sorry I couldn't help more...

i can confirm...battery recall is still in business. got my powerbook 12" battery just last month...and it has been out of warranty for 2 years
