whats a good cheap external harddrive to use for timemachine using a macbook pro? That will be light and easy to use when taking your macbook pro everywhere.

can you use that external harddrive at the same time that you are using timemachine to put other things on it like saving music and movies directly on the external harddrive for saving space on your macbook pro?

what size you recommend to get for the external harddrive?

thanks

i recommend a Lacie porche. its BUS powered and doesnt need AC power. get the firewire one.

yep Time Machine is a folder called "Backup.backupdb" you can store anything but in that folder. but to start Time Machine you need an empty disk formatted to HFS+.

…what size you recommend to get for the external harddrive?…

double the size or more of your Mac's hard drive.
