So, I'm on Apple.com, in the EA Games section, and I see this price listed for MacBook Pros.

Here...

Because when you click on it, it sends you to the proper Apple store, where the baseline model starts at $1999.
Too bad. Would be a fantastic deal, otherwise.

Refurb MBPs are now as low as $1449, so perhaps $1699 was referring to the lowest refurb price at the time.

The price on the Mac Pro is also wrong. It should be priced $500 higher.

no..thats the starting price

and below is what is listed as $2799
it also says up to 3.2

That's true Eric, but in the EA section it says 2 3.0 dual core, it doesn't say STARTING with the single 2.8...it's misleading. If you downgrade to a single 2.8 w/less ram you'll get 2299.

HOWEVER, there is no way to get 1699 for a MBP at the STANDARD apple store, so WHAT is up?

That would a great price on the MBP, but if you called Apple they'd point you to some disclaimer about errors on the web page... As long as the store is right, they are good I suspect. But it is fun to dream....

Also note that the screens show Tiger OS... So they didnt bother to update that page

The Mac Pro specs are also wrong. It says 8 cores standard, but it only says it comes with two 3ghz dual core xeons. And it is the old graphics card.

That's a excellent catch. I'd definitely bring it to Apple's attention and try to score a new current model base MBP at that price. One possible thing this $1699 may be referring to is in the "Clearance" section of the Apple.com store where a new previous model base MBP is going for $1699. Otherwise I'd say this is a pretty big goof from Apple, wrong price(s) and wrong Tiger screens.

@DMC-12: If you're in the market for a new Penryn MBP for $1699 then you'd better call Apple before someone else does!
