What 8600m gt drivers are the best? laptopvideo2go has everything from the 150s, 160s and 170s. Which are the best one to run with the Penryn MBPs with 512 8600m gts running on Vista?

There is no "best."
Some drivers perform better with certain games while others have glitches with other games. I typically like to start off with the latest drivers.

I've tested 3 so far in 3dmark06 running Vista 32bit on a Penryn 15'' MBP with 512vram and 2gigs. It's 3dmark06 basic edition so everything is on default like 1280xres and no AA.
167.63(original bootcamp drivers) => 4317
169.47 => 4200
174.74 => 4306
I have not OCed and I kept the 470/635 default. Do these numbers seem right for my setup?

I personally don't care about 3Dmark scores. I don't use that as a basis to see if I'm going to have problems in a game (performance or otherwise). In fact, I don't think I've ever used it. It's stupid IMO.
If all you're running is 3Dmark 06 on your laptop for whatever reason, then I guess I would stick with the laptops that get you a better score. However, if you plan on playing games, install the games you plan on playing and test the games out with the drivers. Look for any noticeable performance differences and any graphical glitches. If you don't see any difference between the drivers, then I guess your question would be answered as to what you should use.
