Hello again,

Software RAID 0 and RAID 1 running beautifully.

I've now striped 2 WD 640s and 2 WD se16 500s (external usb?! just for fun :).)

My boot is a RAID 1 WD 640.

I'm loving this. The performance boost from the scratch disk is insane. I'm totally blown away having gotten used to what my MBP used to do with a 5400rpm drive.

Anyway, I'm now itching to throw a RAID card into the mix. I'm looking at the new Highpoint 3522 or the Caldigit RAIDcard. I'm thinking that I'll be either looking at a RAID 5 config using the 4 WD640s. That way I could eliminate the two 500s and just use a 750 7200.11 I have as a time machine drive to safeguard along with the parity checking.

Can someone tell me if these are the right cards to be looking at? I'm having a hard time understanding the differences between these cards and some of the other models these companies offer.
