Okay,

Here is my question.

1. What are the best E-Commerce Applications out there, open source and cost?

2. What do you use as your E-Commerce Applications when building sites?

3. Best website cart applications and E-Commerce Solutions?

Any information you can post is appreciated. Thanks in advance for the info.

For an open source solution, I've heard good things about zen cart. I've never used it on an actual site but I have installed it to play around. The layout is very customizable and there are a lot of features.

OS Commerece, CRE Loaded... Theres a few. Keep in mind they'll need a lot of customization to work within your requirements.

jsm4182 - I saw Zen Garden once before it looks like a good option.

EvanLugh - This is the first I have seen this, it looks interested, seems to be a bit costly for just starting off. I like it though, thanks for posting.

Okay, I usually like researching everything that is out there and determining what is the overall best solution.

ChicoWeb - Yea, I know that solutions out of the box require a lot customization to get the look and feel to go with the overall theme of your site. Also, to add all the features you want. I just want to know all the best available options out there so I can study them. I know basic PHP so, I can edit the basic structure to get the look I am looking for.

Everybody, please keep posting your suggestions, thoughts, and experiences?

Please keep up with the responses! I posted a similar question a few days ago and look forward to hearing your answers.

Something like Zen Cart seems like way overkill for my particular application, so I'm looking for something simple, simple, simple.

while the cart itself is important, the first question you should be asking is:

how am i processing the orders?

paypal? google? amazon? your own credit card process (which i know nothing about...)

start with your payment method, and then go from there. You could find the greatest cart in the world, and if you can't process a credit card? well, it is just an online gallery.

oscommerce is very stable...easy to work with, and a lot of plug ins.

It looks like the dev is updating a new one as well :)
