MacPro: 2.8ghz dual 4 core; 14gb Ram, (as seen in System Profiler); AE CS3 8.0.2; OSX 10.5.2
Everything is fully updated.
I know this has been asked many times before, but I am thick, and not the sharpest tool in the shed.
In AE memory prefs, it says I have only 3gb ram. (Why AE still doesn't see the RAM, with everything up to date, I have no idea...)
From what I've read,
if I set Maximum Memory Usage to 50% = 1.5gb, and
if I set Maximum RAM Cache Size to 50% = 1.5gb, and
in Multiprocessing Prefs, I check: Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously, (confirming an additional 7 processors will be used.)
Then, even though AE "says," it only saw 3gb Ram total,
will it still use 8 cores x 1.5gb a piece = 12gb used by AE, leaving me 2gb free for other use?
Is there anything else I need to do?
Is there any way to get AE to actually recognize the RAM, or, more importantly, is there any way to confirm it is working?
I really appreciate the help...
