I just upgraded my MB HD from 80 gig to 160 gig, yea! Can anyone recommend an enclosure for the old HD? I've looked all over, OWC, NewEgg etc... I can't tell why (besides the power supply) one enclosure is $6.99 (newegg) and others cost $100 +/-.

What are the assembled MacRumors masses using?

Thanks,

Enclosures vary based on the type of drive they accept (SATA vs PATA/IDE), physical size of the drive (3.5" vs 2.5"), the interface (USB, Firewire 400, Firewire 800, eSata), and the materials used to make the enclosure (plastic vs, aluminum).

Cheaper USB enclosures often need additional power (ie multiple USB ports) in order to work.

OWC makes some nice enclosures for a 2.5" SATA drive like the one from your MB.

The USB interface version is only $29:

I like the Firewire models for speed and lack of power issues, but they are almost always more expensive:

I used the USB one for my Daughter's old drive, and it works great...
