Sigh....no Leafs again. :(

No other predictions yet for me but Dallas is by far my second favorite team and Anaheim is "home town" and of course a two in two would be awesome so I will say Anaheim and still say in 6.

No Leafs again again again. The state of our Buds is extremely sad. Don't worry, now that I've moved away from Toronto, the Leafs will start an upswing and be a great team.

My new hometown team is the Kings, so basically I moved from a city with a crappy team to another city with a crappy team (although the Kings have more upside currently).

I haven't decided who I'm going to root for yet, but I do hope the Habs can go far, and the Red Wings are just awesome.

I'm looking forward to the Stanley Cup Playoffs discussion in this thread.....

Timeout.... you're a Maple Leaf fan but you want the HABS to go far. There is something very wrong with that statement.

My bad, I thought the Pens were set in stone. Regardless, they are still advancing.

if they win they play Philly, if they lose they play Ottawa. They will be after tonight. I am hoping for Philly, because of the Ottawa fiasco last year.

ps - If any of you guys are semi-pens fans and like comedy check out The Pens Blog, really funny site, just really baises towards Penguins fans. hahaha

Good Luck every one.

I love the Wings, but just can't see them winning the Cup this year. They are to inconsistent and that will cause them to choke in the semi-finals IMO.

I will root for the STARS but too too too many injuries on the back line to support Turco. But there has been one miracle on ice, maybe a second.

All matchups have been finalized and I have updated my picks. Good luck to all in the playoffs (except the Rangers).

Now the real season begins! :D

Bruins vs the Habs...Great..Talk about a team having another team's number in recent years....I still haven't gotten over 04......

WOW i didnt even know the playoffs have started! im not a huge Hockey fan. got into it becuase of NHL 07 & 08 and my buddy plays in the Junior As over in Canada.

i won the Stanely Cup in NHL 07 flawlessly in 4s with the Canucks and the Ducks. seeing as though the Canuckies arent in it this Season ill go for the Duckies. Anaheim in 5!!!

My predictions for the first round:

The East:

Montreal in 5
Pittsburgh in 5
Washington in 5
New Jersey in 6

The West:

Detroit in 5
Calgary in 7
Colorado in 6
Anaheim in 6

Everyone seems to agree on the East (so far). The West definitely has some more question marks.

Nobody has predicted a sweep yet either.

GO BRUINS

too bad they'll probably get swept.. oh well, at least they made the playoffs, which is more than I expected to happen at the beginning of the season.

Love the new icon Don, haha

I am surprised that the west is so varied, I figured it would be the other way around honestly.

Thanks. My hockey season ended, so I figured I'd go with something humorous. :D Don't fret though, my Islanders 'tar will be returning in October. Sigh, so far away.

The West is quite literally wild. Any of the lower seeds can advanced. Parity, I think, is the word to describe the West. I honestly think that's where we're gonna see the bulk of the upsets.

I was a long-time Kings fan...mostly by default. I even still have one of the last "authentic" matchbox zamboni cars around. It's on my desk actually ;). I had a friend who carried season tickets for decades and always bought 2 seats so I just got to go a lot. The Ducks is purely for local pride, that's about it.

Nice. You should post a picture of the zamboni.

I have (it's probably in a box in my storage unit back in Toronto) an old Kings home jersey (so it's white) from 1988 with the black and silver logo and GRETZKY 99 on the back and an A on the front. He was an assistant/associate captain when he first started playing with the Kings, and wasn't named captain until '89. I thought I was the coolest kid ever with that jersey. I guess it was inevitable that I move here, eh?

I hope to go to some games once the Kings season starts back up in the fall.
