Livetype lagging

I have a 2.2 MBP w/ 4 gigs of ram and 128vram.

I just got FCE 4 and was using livetype.

When I use the big templates on livetype, the entire program has this major lag to it. I'm only using a 5400rpm hd so idk if that is the problem or what. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
