Every time I put in a blank CD-R (I've tried with multiple discs), I hear the drive whir for a few seconds, stop, whir again, and stop again, and then the CD is ejected. This only happens with blank CD-Rs. I've tried CDs that I have burned with this drive itself in the past, and it happily reads them. No window pops up asking what to do with the blank CD, it just ejects it without asking. Any thoughts?

Same GD problem with my Macbook Pro

Did you find a way to fix this? It just started happening out of nowhere.

It happened with me months ago - turned out to be a hardware fault, the superdrive was replaced under warranty.

You might want to give Apple a ring and see what they say.

I had a very similar situation also. The drive would read some discs and not others, but there was no pattern how the drive behaved.

So i took it in, they said the drive was faulty, it was replaced, and now all is well.

I'd take it in to the shop for a look.....

Yeah, I called AppleCare and they had me send it in for repairs.

My drive did that too for awhile... than just out of the blue started reading discs again.... interesting.... it seems to be okay right now....

My MBP just started doing this too. I've used this stack of CDs for a while (I don't burn all that often) and have never had a problem before.

Has anyone found a solution?
