Need help getting Hawking Tech usb dish adapter to work.

OK so I bought a usb external wireless receiver because the built in reciever in my 10.4 macbook just doesn't get the strength I need to get the wireless router I'm aiming for. No, I cannot get any closer. It's a Hawking Technology Hi-Gain wireless G usb dish adapter. I followed the directions, including shutting off airport, but it seems like I'm missing something. Does anyone know how to get it to work?
