I have purchased 2 PHP books by Larry Ullman off Amazon for the first time. Though I made the order on the 4th of April, it is said that my expected delivery time is May 10 2008, why does it take so long? Can anyone shed some light on this?

Standard shipping to Singapore is 18-32 business days...presumably they put it on a boat. You can certainly get it faster if you're willing to pay more for upgraded shipping.

The long delivery estimates could be any number of factors including stock, shipping times and if you're taking overseas shipment then customs considerations.
What did you choose for a shipping option?

I chose the standard shipping option.
Using the priority courier shipping rates is absolutely madness, it is the same price as one of the books I am buying. Amazon listed that there is stock availability for the book. I guess the only thing I can do is wait patiently for it to arrive, though it is a long shot away.

I have Amazon Prime and get two day shipping free on everything. I buy a ton of stuff there so it works out. Everything usually arrives on time, unless it's out of stock. I've been very happy with the service from Amazon. 
Of course, I don't live in Singapore. Maybe I should take a vacation there and order something while I'm away, yeah, that's the ticket......
