power users.... try Nve or Kompozer (if you can find a mac version)

iweb is a easy tool for casual users, it offers very limited control for power users, its product might not be properly viewed by other browsers like ie/firefox/opera

Hello, and welcome to the world of Macs.

There are quite a few out there. One place to look is on the Apple site under downloads. Here's a link.

You'll find products like RapidWeaver, Sandvox, and Freeway to name a few. They all have trial versions that you can download and try out.

Wow, you guys reply quick.
Rapidweaver looks nice, but does it give you the ability to still code yourself?

I believe so, yes. From here:

If you're a power user and want to throw in some html code, or modify a template, no problem. RapidWeaver gives you the power to switch seamlessly from using styled text and images to raw HTML code. This allows you to effortlessly insert custom code such as google ads, or hit counters for example.

You guys are amazing, I never ever had paid support at the speed you have helped me. I am going to try rapidweaver out.

I have one more question about os x in general.
I have downloaded a tool called cleanapp. As I am new in the mac world I have downloaded and uninstalled numerous applications.

And I was wondering if there is a correct way to uninstall them again. Cleanapp does find some files besides the App itself when it erases an app. Am I removing files the right way? Or should I do things differently.

Just drag the application to the trash. There is no real reason to use an uninstaller for the vast majority of applications. The only ones I can think of that would benefit are things like Logic Studio and Final Cut Studio, oh and Microsoft Office of course.

yes Microsoft office is a real pain.
I got it for free as i am a student, I uninstalled it using the Microsoft uninstaller for itself. I hope it got everything. Office 2008 is really bad. I'm back to Iwork 08 now.

Office 2007 for PC's is good looking, but really crap lol... i have it on my PC... that was a waste of money lol

Javascript/AJAX frameworks,

jQuery, Scriptalicious, etc should all replace Flash IMO!

:D

but to answer your question, no if you want to make flash files you will most likely need Flash

i'll chime in for rapidweaver - been a user since 2005 , and very very happy with it

Support for it is great on there forums

I'm a big fan of Rapidweaver myself. Rapidweaver and CSSEdit (among others) all have trial versions available. Just download a couple and see what works for you.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A102 Safari/419.3)

barebones makes BBedit. Its a stellar app

I have heard good things of BBEdit.

I can't give much advice because I am a dedicated user of Dreamweaver myself now, the amount you can do with Dreamweaver is amazing...and the ease of use (seeing code and doing code/visual at the same time)

I would check out http://www.versiontracker.com
and go to the Mac OS X section, and search for HTML editor. There are a bunch of freeware and shareware options available

Good luck,
-Ward
