I got my MBP off of eBay about 2 months ago and the processor whine is just starting to kill me. I know for a fact it is out of warranty, but since Apple admitted to this being a problem do you think they would do anything about it? Am I SOL?

Only way to find out is to call them and ask.

I got my first-gen MBP whine fixed under warranty and was very glad I did.

You can also install shhmbp which should solve the problem, although your battery life will suffer slightly.

How much is slightly? I tried using a program called "QuietMBP" that was designed to ramp up the CPU cycles and it completely murdered the battery (aka from 2.5 hours to 1.25 hours max). This program looks like it works a little differently though, so...

Well i installed it and my MBP is dead silent now and it claims I'll get just over 2 hours on battery with no Wifi and a few apps running, not bad
