I've recently run into a new problem with my MBP (2.2 SR). I never used to suffer this problem but recently, it has sporadically been refusing to wake the display from sleep.
When this happens, I close the lid, the display goes off, and the sleep light illuminates but does not pulsate, it just remains consistent. I re-open the lid, the sleep light goes off, it checks to see if there's anything in the drive but the display does not switch back on.
I've had random success with pressing the power button and then return in an attempt to normally shut-down the machine, sometimes this causes the display to power up however I generally have to force reboot it by holding the power-button.
On a perhaps off-topic tangent, it also appears to be overheating! I hear the fans speed up occasionally when it's on my lap although this generally happens when i'm gaming in XP.
After say an hour of gaming, the fans speed-up and after a little while the game begins to drop frames at which point I quit the game to give it time to cool-off which, it normally does after a few minutes. I've taken to arching the screen forward so it's almost closed in order to get as much air flow to the vents as possible.
More alarmingly however, I today noticed a slight discolouration on the display hinge, in-front of the fans where the casing has yellowed in stripes from what appears to be scorching. (see attached)

It's quite difficult to make out in the pic cause of my crappy camera-phone but this surely cannot be a good sign.
I'm not sure if it's relevant but i tend to play COD4/GOW and am currently running 171.16 drivers from laptopvideo2go.com
I've also included a grab from my iStat showing temps/speeds in OS/X when there's no noticeable heat or audible fan noise. (not sure how to get temps in XP whilst gaming).

Any help in figuring out how to alleviate the sleep issue and whether my MBP is about to overheat and 'splode would be much appreciated! I am under applecare but does my use of modded INF drivers null this?
PS. Is 92% battery health after 70 cycles normal?
