I've noticed that some/most of the iStat captures posted in ram temperature threads seem to be around 90F. Mine are more like 130-140F at idle, even when really cranking away at on several dvd encodes/rips and running F@H the temperature doesn't rise much, maybe 145F tops.

I've pulled out the optical bay and verified that the power supply fan is running. The power supply enclosure is not any warmer than the rest of the case, and the air coming out of the back of the power supply enclosure is a little warm (fan doing it's job). SMC fan control does not impact the PS fan speed, so even when I bump the other speeds up, the PS stays warm (everything else gets very cool).

Anyone care to share their power supply temps? Please also include your processor speed, video card, ram, and hard drive configuration.

Thanks.

My configuration:
2.8ghz 8-core
10gb ram (4x2 + 2x1)
8800gt
3*750gb samsung f1
1*320gb seagate barracuda

Machine B was a replacement for Machine A:

Temperatures are in Celsius.

63C = 145.4F
72C = 161.6F

I can't say definitively Machine A was broken.

MY PS temps are 38C and 37C.

My config is a dual 2.8, 8800GT, 12GB RAM, and 2X 500GB HD's and 2X 360GB HD's.

Thanks, both of you for sharing your temps.

That's how I feel at the moment. It doesn't feel broken. Usability has not suffered, the temp just seems out of line on both power supply sensors. Guess I'll just keep an eye on it and give apple a call if it causes me a real problem. I'm reluctant to trade in a machine that is otherwise flawless.
