Best video format for impoting to fce

So after a pile of reading it looks like FCE4 converts the imported footage to AIC.

Has anyone come across any information that shows fce natively supports a particular format? And if not, then is there a format that would have the least conversion losses.

AVHCD is transcoded for sure

sorry yeah i was talking HD

right AIC would likely be the best choice as there is no conversion then, So would it support HDV? Is that the same as DV just HD?
 
No, HDV is long-GOP MPEG-2 compression at the same bitrate as DV, and I believe FCE also converts that to AIC on import.
 
ok so looks like both the popular formats avhcd and the hdv will both be converted, so in that respect, likely neither would have much of an avantage as far as importing goes ....
