Long story short, I got the panel in my 2006 23" Cinema Display replaced recently. While it was in the shop, I had the opportunity to take home a brand new model (with the Leopard "Aurora" desktop on the box).

On both the new model and my old display with the NEW panel, over large areas of rich blue color — actually not with 100% Blue, but any blue mixed with a little bit of some other color, or blue-white gradients — I can see faint vertical pinstripes. If I tilt my head slightly to either side the image appears perfectly solid. I don't think it's a defect as much as it is how the new panels are put together and/or operate, and how my eyes happen to see it..... I was wondering if anyone else experienced this phenomenon? I haven't had the opportunity to examine any other newer Apple LCDs to see if they all do it, but my initial guess would be that at least all the new 23" ACDs are like this.

Tried to recreate it in Photoshop to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. Searched around and was a little surprised I didn't see any mention of this at all.
