Ok here's what I am comparing:
20 inch Imac Aluminum bought ~2 months ago
2GB Mushkin Ram
2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo
250 GB HD with about 180 GB free
Mac OS 10.5.2
15.4 inch macbook pro bought May 2007
2 GB Mushkin Ram
2.16 Core 2 Duo
120 GB HD with 50 GB free
this system has a 10 GB windows bootcamp partition
Mac OS 10.5.2
They both have about the same number of applications installed, I don't download junk programs from the web. I would say my macbook pro has a few more applications.
My problem is that my macbook pro is sooo much slower. Boot up times are at least 3 times slower than the Imac. Additionally, simply trying to view files in the finder takes about three times as long as the Imac. In fact I just timed it, when i click on Applications, it took about 10 seconds to even allow them to appear in the finder.
I feel like my macbook pro is slower than when I first loaded on Leopard a few months ago. I do normal system maintenance on both machines such as repairing permissions, clearing Safari, deleting unused programs, etc.
Is this even a problem or is my laptop hard drive slower than the Imac drive. I tried searching on the apple site with no luck. Any one else experience the same thing. Perhaps I feel like its getting slower because the Imac is faster???
Thanks for any suggestions
