Apple waited a full week before seeding the latest version of Mac OS X 10.5.3 (9d19) to developers on Friday. The latest version of Mac OS X Leopard adds 31 bug fixes to the growing list of issues addressed in the upcoming release. Features that are specifically targeted for focused testing include AirPort, Back To My Mac, Spaces, Time Machine and many others.

Apple first seeded Mac OS 10.5.3 9d10 in late-March and has been issuing regular releases to developers.

Once complete, the final Mac OS X 10.5.3 update will become available as a free update to existing Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) users via Software Update. No target date is set, but testing for a new version can extend over several months.

Is it just bug fixes or are there performance improvements too? It would be nice if each point release improved performance in some small way. By the time you got to .9 or .10 it would all add up.

Honestly the only thing I want is for Leopard to start up and shut down as fast as Tiger did. It is still much faster than Windows but not near where Tiger was. And what's with 3 different shades of the blue screens at start up???

Other than that honestly the only bugs I ever notice are the printer icons stay in the dock after you print, spaces kind of makes windows go a little funky some times like in Final Cut Pro, and Front Row has a graphical glitch with the bottom fade out gradient on the text lists. That's basically it, I have LOVED Leopard from the start and I couldn't ever go back :D

You can right click on the printer icon and choose autoclose or some such and it will be gone when printing is completed.

what 3 different shades of blue? I haven't noticed any different shad of blue but one... just curious... But when will 10.5.3 come out? I know the artice states that it is still up in the air but granted how this process works with seeds to developers and such when do you guys think this will come out?

What do you do that makes FR crash? I will try... what hardware are you on?

It still has problems with locking up when using it to listen for music, when starting to read a DVD, FR sometimes becomes non-responsive. It has problems exiting and locks up.

It's annoying as hell especially since the interface is so different from other apps, ie. you cannot just multitask to the desktop if you have a problem, you need to hardboot!

Oh yeah, I also hope they will fix a lot of Automator issues!

I don't like how the iPhoto library doesn't work in desktop picture selection.

if this doesnt fix the Time Machine bug where Exposé & Dashboard keyboard & mouse shortcuts are cleared after deleting or restoring a file in Time Machine ill punch the internet in the face.

other than that i cant wait!

Yeah, but I see the Aperture Library - TWICE.

And when I choose a pic from that, I only get the preview quality, and not the linked image :(

On behalf of myself and the entire Mac community, a big resounding "I hope they fix the airport issues".

Amen. It's annoying as hell to wait for 1-2 minutes from sleep with no indication of life coming from the MBP. Black screen, no sleep light, just have to wait to see if my laptop is alive. Bleh.

I don't like how the iPhoto library doesn't work in desktop picture selection.

that because youve set iPhoto to not copy photos to its library when importing.

i too couldnt select a picture from iPhoto in the Desktop background preferences either it just made my desktop blue. then i started copying photos to my iPhoto library and it worked.

now ive got to find out how to remove all my old photos and copy them back to iPhoto's library without messing up my events and albums…
