Pretty noobish question, but I was watching a mac tutorial online (I will switching from a PC desktop to mac notebook for college) about wireless internet. Do you actually need a mac airport device for wireless internet (how the video made it seem), or will a linksys router, for example, suffice?

Any WiFi access point is fine. Doesn't have to be an Apple one.

Any industry standard router (802.11 b/g/n) will work. Did it say that you need an Apple router? That's shameless self-promoting if it did.

"For a wifi network in your home, you need an apple airport base station thats connected to the internet through a DSL or cable modem."

Thanks for confirming this for me, but the video made me second guess myself. Problem solved, thanks for the speedy replies.
